Bill Hayes, renowned for portraying Doug Williams on “Days of Our Lives,” has passed away at the age of 98.
He peacefully departed on Friday morning, surrounded by family, including his wife, Susan Seaforth Hayes.
Hayes, born William Foster Hayes III in 1925, was a long-serving character on the soap opera since 1970.
In June, he celebrated his 98th birthday on set with the cast and crew.
Recognized for his decades-long contribution, Hayes received the Daytime Emmy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.
Beyond his soap opera career, he was a celebrated singer and actor in Broadway and nightclubs, with a notable presence on the Time magazine cover in 1976 alongside his wife Susan, an Emmy-winning actress.
Hayes leaves behind a legacy of five children from a previous marriage to Mary Hobbs.
