A Kogi State resident, Dauda Abdulfatai, also known as Abdulfattah El-Okene, undertook a 200-hour ironing quest but concluded at 142 hours, surpassing the previous record held by Gareth Sander, the current Guinness World Record holder for ironing 100 hours.
Dauda, who received approval from Guinness World Records, began the marathon on January 10 in Lokoja, Kogi State.
Despite not reaching his initial goal, he stopped unexpectedly due to medical concerns and support team feedback, having successfully ironed an impressive 2,249 garments in 142 hours.
