Hundreds of Nigerians are protesting in Ughelli, Delta State, condemning unchecked police brutality and extortion by Nigerian youths.
Protesters call on the Nigeria Police Force, Police Service Commission, and all concerned citizens to address police personnel turning into “armed robbers in uniform” with alleged support from corrupt senior officers.
The Delta State Police Command warns against the protest, asserting that it won’t hinder the police from fulfilling their constitutional duties, citing an incident where youths attacked officers during a vehicle interception.
The Command’s spokesperson states that nine suspects have been arrested and will face legal charges.
