The Delta State High Court in Effurun has rejected Davido’s request for a stay of proceedings in the N2 billion case filed by Brownhill Investment Company Limited over the ‘Warri Again Concert.’
The plaintiff seeks N2 billion in damages, N150 million for legal fees, and an additional N30 million for filing charges.
Davido’s legal representative initially mentioned a pending appeal and a motion for a stay, but later withdrew it, citing the Court of Appeal’s jurisdiction.
The court agreed with the plaintiff, allowing proceedings to continue until any injunction from the Court of Appeal.
The case is set for a pre-trial conference on March 21, 2024, following the court’s decision to permit the plaintiff to regularize their response to the statement of defense.
Davido had previously contested the court’s jurisdiction in a preliminary objection, which the court dismissed.
