Rev. Bobby Leonard, a pastor in North Carolina, has apologized for asserting a connection between women’s clothing choices and sexual assault in a sermon last August.
He controversially stated he would acquit a male rapist if the victim wore shorts.
The comments led to protests, with former church member Ben Rudy expressing disappointment.
The church has now displayed a sign apologizing for any potential hurt caused by Leonard’s remarks. It reads, “I am sorry for any hurt. I was wrong ― Pastor Leonard.”
