A U.S. appeal court panel has rejected a request to delay the execution of Thomas Creech, a death row inmate in Idaho, sentenced to death in 1983 for killing a fellow inmate.
Creech’s lawyers sought to challenge his death sentence, arguing it was issued by a judge, not a jury, but the panel found insufficient evidence of a shift in public opinion against judge-sentenced executions.
Creech, 73, has a history of suspected or convicted murders spanning half a century, and his execution by lethal injection is scheduled for Wednesday.
