“Top Gun” actor Barry Tubb has filed a lawsuit against Paramount Pictures, alleging the unauthorized use of his image in the sequel, “Top Gun: Maverick.”
Tubb claims his contractual permission for image use extended only to the original “Top Gun” in 1986, not to any sequels.
The lawsuit specifies a scene in the sequel featuring Tubb’s character, demanding a jury trial and at least $75,000 in damages.
“Top Gun: Maverick” achieved significant success, becoming the second highest-grossing film of 2022, earning almost $1.5 billion worldwide.
Paramount Pictures has yet to respond to the allegations.
