The estate of Donna Summer is suing Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, for alleged copyright infringement over the use of a sample from Summer’s iconic 1977 song, “I Feel Love,” in the track “Good (Don’t Die).”
Despite a denied request for permission, the lawsuit claims West and Ty Dolla $ign used recognizable portions of the song without consent, seeking compensatory damages, statutory damages, attorneys’ fees, and disgorgement of profits.
The filing emphasizes the broader issue of artists’ rights in deciding how their works are used and aims to protect Donna Summer’s musical legacy.
