Jeff Bezos reclaimed the title of the richest person on Earth, surpassing Elon Musk, with a net worth of $200 billion, while Musk followed closely at $198 billion, as reported by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index on Monday.
Over the past year, Musk lost about $31 billion, while Bezos gained $23 billion.
The ongoing competition for the top spot also involved LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault, who had briefly held the title in May 2023.
Despite fluctuations, the wealth of the top five richest individuals has soared 114% since 2020, reaching a total of $869 billion, accounting for inflation, according to Oxfam’s annual inequality report.
