Veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor, has passed away at the age of 62 following an extended period of illness.
The news of his death was announced by social commentator Morris Monye through his online platform on Sunday.
Muonagor had been struggling with kidney failure and undergoing dialysis treatment.
His sudden demise follows a recent viral video where he appealed for financial assistance to undergo a kidney transplant.
Monye expressed profound sorrow at Muonagor’s passing, recognizing him as a gifted actor whose performances were captivating.
He recounted the community’s efforts to support Muonagor’s health battle, including fundraising for treatment abroad.
Monye emphasized the tragedy as underscoring the urgent need for improved healthcare infrastructure in the country.
Born on August 20, 1962, Muonagor hailed from Idemili, Anambra State.
He was both an actor and a producer, receiving a nomination for Best Actor in a comedy at the AMVCA 2017.
After completing his youth service in 1989, Muonagor transitioned from working at the News Agency of Nigeria to pursue his passion for acting, debuting in the film “Taboo 1” as Akunatakasi.
