A Sarasota native who held the title of Miss USA since last year has announced her decision to relinquish her crown, citing the importance of safeguarding her mental health.
Noelia Voigt made the announcement via Instagram on Monday, explaining her intention to step down from her role and return the sash and tiara she earned while representing Utah after winning in September.
In her post, Voigt emphasized the significance of prioritizing physical and mental well-being, stating, “Never compromise your physical and mental well-being. Our health is our wealth.” She also expressed gratitude towards her supporters, coaches, and directors who aided her throughout her journey.
Following Voigt’s announcement, the Miss USA organization voiced their support for her decision, affirming that the welfare of their titleholders is of utmost importance and acknowledging her need to focus on herself during this period.
The organization disclosed that they are currently devising succession plans and will soon reveal who will assume the vacant role.
Thank you, Noelia, for your service as Miss USA. 👑❤️ We wish you the best in this next chapter.
We respect and support Noelia’s decision to resign from her duties. The well-being of our titleholders is a top priority, and we understand her need to prioritize herself at this time. We are currently reviewing plans for transitioning responsibilities to a successor, and we will soon announce the crowning of the new Miss USA.
“As individuals, we grow through experiencing different things in life that lead us to learn more about ourselves,” Voight expressed. “My journey as Miss USA has been incredibly meaningful, representing Utah with pride, and later the USA at Miss Universe.”
