Martin Otse, a social media critic known as VeryDarkMan, was arrested by Nigerian police at his home in Abuja on Sunday.
While the specific reason for his arrest has not been officially disclosed, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed that it is connected to his recent revelations on his X.com platform.
Adeyanju stated that Otse’s arrest was ordered by CP Igwe and is allegedly linked to accusations of defamation against an individual accused of scamming a Nigerian abroad.
Adeyanju criticized the arrest, noting that instead of apprehending the accused scammer, the police chose to arrest Otse on charges of defamation.
