Several foreign embassies in Nairobi issued safety warnings to their citizens on Tuesday amidst renewed protests across Kenya.
Ukraine, Russia, and Poland advised their nationals to avoid crowded areas, while the United States closed its offices due to concerns over criminals posing as protesters to commit assaults and robberies.
Protests have been widespread, not only in Nairobi but also in other cities like Mombasa and Kisumu, where police used tear gas to disperse demonstrators.
Many schools in Nairobi remained closed as parents kept their children at home, fearing potential violence from the protests.
Some schools had notified in advance that they would not open on Tuesday.
The demonstrations, sparked by recent incidents where police fired live bullets at protesters, have seen youth activists vow to continue until there are changes in the country, including demands for government officials and police involved in the violence to be held accountable.
