The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has extended the deadline for mandatory registration of Point of Sales agents, super agents, and sole agents by 60 days.
The new deadline is now September 5, 2024. This extension aims to allow operators, especially those in remote areas facing network challenges, adequate time to complete their registration and continue operating without disruption.
The announcement was made via a statement on the commission’s Facebook page, emphasizing that operators who fail to register by the new deadline risk losing their businesses and may face prosecution for facilitating criminal activities.
The registration requirement aligns with legal provisions under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 and Central Bank of Nigeria guidelines on agent banking, aimed at protecting fintech businesses and enhancing the economy.
