Thomas Matthew Crooks has been identified as the individual who shot former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania political rally.
The FBI confirmed Crooks, 20, from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the suspect in the July 13th assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.
This incident is still under investigation, and the FBI is seeking public assistance for any information.
Crooks was fatally shot by law enforcement shortly after opening fire.
The Pennsylvania State Police praised the rapid and heroic actions of the officers involved.
Since Crooks had no identification, the FBI used other methods to identify him, including photographs, DNA, and biometric data.
Following the attack, roads near Crooks’ home in Bethel Park were blocked off by law enforcement, and a bomb squad was deployed. The neighborhood was in disbelief, with residents expressing shock and fear.
Crooks, a registered Republican, graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022.
Former President Trump was slightly injured during the incident but expressed his gratitude to the Secret Service and law enforcement for their swift response. He also offered condolences to the families of the victims.
