The individual suspected of shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, purchased 50 rounds of ammunition shortly before the attack, according to senior law enforcement officials.
Crooks, identified as the gunman, used a legally purchased AR-style rifle during the incident, which injured the former president and resulted in one fatality and critical injuries to two others.
Federal authorities accessed Crooks’ phone for further investigation but have not confirmed details regarding ammunition purchases or bomb-making materials found in his vehicle.
The FBI continues to investigate the incident, treating it as a potential act of domestic terrorism.
