Mike Lindell’s company, MyPillow, might avoid eviction from one of its Twin Cities locations after a virtual court hearing on Tuesday.
Exeter Finance, based in Delaware, sued MyPillow earlier this month, claiming the company owes nearly $450,000 in rent for its Shakopee facility, which includes an outlet store and warehouse. MyPillow has leased the space from Exeter since 2017.
During the hearing, both parties agreed that MyPillow would not be evicted if Lindell paid the overdue rent, plus additional costs, by the end of the day.
Lindell’s attorney, former Republican Minnesota House Rep. Doug Wardlow, informed Judge Lauren Johnson that he had already transferred over $250,000 to Exeter and was arranging to pay the remaining amount.
In March, a judge evicted MyPillow from another Shakopee building for failing to pay over $217,000 in rent. Lindell, a supporter of former President Donald Trump, said last year that MyPillow faced financial difficulties after major retailers stopped carrying its products and Fox News ceased airing its commercials due to a defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems over false election fraud claims.
Lindell was also ordered to pay millions to a software engineer over similar claims and has auctioned off equipment and subleased manufacturing space in Minnesota.
