Canadian singer Celine Dion, a Grammy award winner, performed live at the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in Paris on Friday.
This marked her return to the stage after a four-year break due to stiff person syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder.
At the event, she concluded the ceremony with Edith Piaf’s 1950 song “Hymne à l’amour” at the Eiffel Tower.
According to reports, the 56-year-old was paid $2 million for her performance. This was Dion’s second time performing at the Olympics, having previously sung “The Power of the Dream” in Atlanta in 1996.
