Jude Okoye, former manager of the disbanded music group P-Square, has refuted allegations that he siphoned millions of dollars from the group’s royalties into a personal account.
His brother Peter, part of the P-Square duo, recently claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that he discovered a secret company named Northside Music, founded by Jude and his wife Ifeoma, which was allegedly used to funnel money from the group’s earnings.
Peter asserted that this company, with a name resembling their official management firm Northside Entertainment, had been discreetly diverting funds for years.
In an Instagram live session, Jude denied the accusations, explaining that Northside Music is not a secret entity. He said the company was established in 2013 and that Peter was aware of its existence, as they even signed artist Cynthia Morgan under the label.
Jude also addressed an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), triggered by a petition from Peter, which led to Jude’s questioning by the agency in April. Jude clarified that the funds in question were his rightful share according to a tripartite agreement on P-Square’s royalties, which he supported with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) documents showing his 40% stake.
Jude recalled that during the EFCC investigation, he was asked about the source of funds used to build his Ikoyi home, explaining that the money came from selling his U.S. house and borrowing from friends. He also recounted how internal conflicts, dating back to 2013, have strained his relationship with Peter and Paul (the P-Square duo), leading to his separation from the group in 2016.
Jude shared his disappointment over the failed attempts at reconciliation in 2021, revealing that after the brothers reunited, he proposed resolving their issues, but Peter declined, preferring to “let bygones be bygones.”
Jude later found out that Peter and Paul had met without him, deciding to exclude him from future P-Square activities. He also accused Peter of trying to tarnish his reputation by orchestrating a scheme involving a blogger to secretly film him and his wife leaving the EFCC office.
While Peter has promised to release further details, including the EFCC’s final report, Jude announced that he would share updates after the EFCC investigation has been concluded.
