Comedian Doug Stanhope had fans worried after a live stream appeared to show him being arrested, but TMZ has confirmed it was all just a false alarm and some role-playing.
Although the footage seemed intense, Stanhope isn’t in any trouble.
According to a spokesperson from the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, Doug’s Arizona home was simply used for a SWAT team training exercise, with his full permission.
To clarify, Doug was not arrested and had no involvement in any illegal activity. The sheriff’s department has been in contact with him, and he’s expected to release a statement soon.
This explanation clears up the confusion, as the scene looked very convincing—showing Doug seemingly “apprehended” by armed men entering his home, with one person clearly identified as him by viewers. Another individual in the house also took part in the role-play.
