The nation mourns the loss of Onyeka Onwenu, the celebrated music icon, producer, and politician affectionately known as the “Elegant Stallion,” who was laid to rest in Lagos on Friday.
Onwenu, a highly respected figure in Nigerian entertainment, passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 72.
She died at Reddington Hospital in Ikeja after collapsing during an event honoring Dr. Stella Okoli, Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.
A service of songs was held in her honor at Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, attended by notable personalities. The burial followed immediately at Ebony Vaults on James George Street, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi was among the dignitaries at the ceremony.
