A furious traveler was filmed smashing an American Airlines counter at Santiago’s Nuevo Pudahuel Airport in Chile with a hammer after discovering he had been sold a counterfeit plane ticket.
The Haitian man, who was set to fly to Miami before continuing to Haiti, became enraged late Monday when he was told he couldn’t board the flight.
In a fit of rage, he searched his work bag and then proceeded to destroy several mounted TV screens and computer monitors behind the check-in counter. The damage was estimated at around $20,000.
Airport security detained him, and he was handed over to the police.
An American Airlines spokesperson confirmed the incident, thanked the staff for their professionalism, and apologized for the disruption.
