Chidimma Adetshina, representing Taraba State, has been named Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.
Her journey to the title was marked by resilience, echoing the controversy surrounding her disqualification from Miss Universe South Africa.
The news was revealed by Africa Fact Zone in a video on X, stating, “Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina has emerged as Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.” According to Pop Pulse, she will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe competition in Mexico this November.
Born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother, the 23-year-old has faced multiple controversies.
She entered the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant as Miss Taraba after withdrawing from Miss South Africa due to negative online comments about her nationality and accusations of fraud by the South African Home Office.
After her withdrawal, the Miss Universe organizers invited her to participate in the Nigerian competition.
The Miss Universe Nigeria pageant featured 25 contestants and was a dazzling showcase of beauty and intelligence.
The top five finalists were Miss Taraba Chidimma Adetshina, Miss Anambra Paula Ezendu, Miss Edo Edeifo Brittany, Miss Ondo Ayegbidun Peace Olamide, and Miss Rivers Nyekachi Douglas.
Ultimately, Miss Ondo was named Miss Lush, Miss Anambra was the first runner-up and Miss Supranational, and Chidimma Adetshina emerged as the overall winner.
After being crowned, Adetshina emphasized that the crown symbolizes unity, not just beauty.
She will receive N10 million in cash and other prizes, in addition to representing Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico this November.
