On Thursday, former President Donald Trump announced his intention to establish a government efficiency commission to audit the entire federal government.
This proposal, influenced by billionaire Elon Musk, who would lead the commission, marks a notable collaboration between Trump and Musk.
Musk, known for leading Tesla and SpaceX, has increasingly supported Trump’s presidential campaign.
Trump claimed that fraud and improper payments in 2022 cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars.
He promised that the commission would recommend significant reforms and devise a plan to eradicate these issues within six months, potentially saving trillions of dollars.
Trump emphasized the need for these changes, stating, “We need to do it. Can’t go on the way we are now.”
Additionally, Trump vowed to eliminate 10 government regulations for every new one introduced if elected in November.
In his speech to the Economic Club of New York, he also proposed reducing regulations, increasing energy production, supporting cryptocurrencies, and significantly cutting both government spending and corporate taxes for domestic producers.
