Activist and social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, has explained why he won’t respond to an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding an alleged corruption case involving the agency’s officials.
VeryDarkMan shared a video featuring an audio clip supposedly of social media personality Bobrisky, in which Bobrisky claimed he was asked to pay N15 million to have a money laundering charge against him dismissed.
In response, the EFCC issued a letter inviting both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to its Lagos office to assist in investigating the alleged bribery.
However, on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan stated that he would not attend the meeting in Lagos as he does not live there and is uncertain about his safety if he goes. He suggested that the EFCC should summon them to their Abuja office instead.
He also accused the EFCC of failing to ensure that Bobrisky was imprisoned as required by law.
“Before you invite someone like me, thoroughly investigate your officers first. Once you have the results regarding those who handled Bobrisky’s case, then you can summon me.
“You’re asking me to come to Lagos when the EFCC headquarters is in Abuja; it doesn’t make sense. You should summon Bobrisky to Abuja for the investigation.
“Lastly, I’m not going to Lagos because I don’t have N15 million to pay for anything. I have no powerful connections and don’t want to be framed. I don’t trust you, and I won’t go (to Lagos),” he concluded.
Bobrisky has denied paying N15 million to have the money laundering charge dropped, calling the audio recording fake.
