With the upcoming cabinet reshuffle by President Bola Tinubu, prominent social critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has urged the removal of the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
Earlier in the week, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced on Wednesday that a cabinet reshuffle is imminent. Some ministers are expected to be dismissed or reassigned.
In response, VDM posted a video on Facebook on Friday, urging the president to retain effective ministers but insisted that the Minister of Power should be replaced. He criticized the current electricity distribution system, particularly the “segregation between Band A, Band B, and Band C,” arguing that it is unfair for some Nigerians to receive 20 hours of power daily while others get much less.
VDM questioned the logic behind this system, suggesting it discriminates against poorer Nigerians, depriving them of consistent electricity access. He stated, “If any minister needs to be removed or reshuffled, it should be the Minister of Power. The division between Band A, Band B, and Band C is senseless. Are poor people not entitled to 24-hour electricity? We are all Nigerians.”
