The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended two women for kidnapping and trafficking a 5-year-old boy.
The suspects, Blessing Elijah Sylvester, 35, from Ikot Enua in Ibesikpo Asutan, and 50-year-old Ofonime Etim Essien from Ikot Abiyan in Nsit Atai, sold the child for 600,000 naira.
State Police Commissioner CP Joseph Eribo announced this on Monday, September 30, 2024, in Uyo while presenting the suspects alongside others arrested for various offenses.
He mentioned, “We also have a case of child theft where children are taken from this state and sold for different amounts, including one child sold for 400,000 naira and another for 600,000 naira. We currently have two women and other suspects in custody.”
