Dolly Parton’s extensive charity organization is stepping in to help those affected by Hurricane Helene.
The singer, originally from Sevierville, Tennessee, has teamed up with Walmart to support relief efforts following the hurricane, which resulted in numerous fatalities and left millions without power across Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Parton has pledged $1 million to the Mountain Ways Foundation, a nonprofit focused on providing immediate aid to victims of the Hurricane Helene floods.
Additionally, her East Tennessee ventures—including Dollywood Parks & Resorts, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, and Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show—along with the Dollywood Foundation, are joining forces to match her donation with another $1 million contribution.
Parton announced this charitable partnership at the Walmart Supercenter in Newport, Tennessee.
Addressing a gathering of over 250 community members in the parking lot, she expressed her solidarity, saying, “I just want you to know that I am totally with you because I am part of you. I love you. I look around and I think, these are my mountains, these are my valleys, these are my rivers flowing like a stream. These are my people. These mountain-colored rainbows, these are my people, and this is my home.”
