Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing multiple new lawsuits filed in federal court on Monday.
Six complaints, were submitted in the Southern District of New York on behalf of four males and two females, whose identities remain confidential.
The incidents described in the complaints date from 1995 to 2021 and involve allegations of sexual assault and other misconduct.
Among the claimants is a man who was 16 at the time of the alleged incident, and a woman who alleges that Combs assaulted her in a Manhattan hotel room in 2004 while she was a college student.
Most of the incidents reportedly took place in New York City or the Hamptons, with two complaints mentioning events at Combs’ lavish Labor Day “White Parties.”
The lawsuits were filed by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee, who announced at a press conference on October 1 that he was representing individuals with allegations against Combs. These lawsuits fall under the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, which allows victims until March 2025 to file older claims. Buzbee stated, “We’re going to just try to file cases that we feel are credible and legitimate.” The lawsuits name Combs and his various businesses as defendants, and the claimants are seeking unspecified damages.
Buzbee noted a recurring theme in the allegations, suggesting that Combs feels he can act without consequences. His attorneys have denied all claims, stating that the allegations are “disturbing” and reflect individuals seeking financial gain.
The oldest allegation comes from a woman who claims she was assaulted by Combs in a bathroom during a 1995 music video release party. At least two of the lawsuits allege that the claimants’ drinks were tampered with, which impaired their ability to resist during the alleged incidents.
One complaint describes an event in 1998 where a 16-year-old alleges he was assaulted at one of Combs’ “White Parties” after discussing his music aspirations with Combs.
Another lawsuit alleges that Combs assaulted a man at a similar event in 2006, which he reported to his supervisor.
In 2008, an employee of a well-known clothing brand alleged he was physically and sexually assaulted by Combs in a Manhattan department store, claiming he lost his job shortly afterward.
The most recent allegation involves an incident in 2021, where an accuser states that after feeling disoriented from a drink at a party, he was assaulted by Combs and others.
These lawsuits come as Combs is already facing federal charges related to racketeering and other serious allegations. Although the specific claims in the lawsuits are new, they reveal troubling patterns that echo some details in his ongoing criminal case. Combs is currently awaiting trial at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, with a trial date set for May 5. He has had bail denied twice and is appealing those decisions.
These civil lawsuits follow a federal lawsuit filed nearly a year ago by Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who accused him of physical and emotional abuse over a period of years. They settled quickly, with Combs denying the allegations. However, a video later surfaced showing Combs involved in an incident with Ventura in 2016, leading him to apologize while maintaining that it was an isolated event.
Recently, Combs’ legal team accused the government of leaking information to the media, claiming it could influence the upcoming jury selection. They are seeking a hearing on this matter, but prosecutors have refuted these allegations. The judge overseeing the case indicated that a gag order may be imposed to limit media engagement from both sides.
Since Ventura’s lawsuit, several others have come forward with claims against Combs, including former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard, who alleged that Combs threatened and intimidated her.
