Mike Jeffries, the former CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, has been arrested in connection with a federal investigation into sex trafficking and interstate prostitution.
Jeffries, along with his longtime partner Matthew Smith and an associate, James Jacobson, are facing multiple charges related to exploiting men at high-profile parties.
These charges come a year after accusations surfaced from eight men claiming that they were sexually exploited by Jeffries and his circle.
According to prosecutors, Jeffries and Smith orchestrated a large-scale operation from 2008 to 2015, funding events where men were flown in for sex.
The men allegedly used a security company to enforce non-disclosure agreements and monitor witnesses, maintaining secrecy and preventing victims from seeking help.
The three men face serious charges, including sex trafficking and 15 counts of interstate prostitution.
Jeffries is being held on a $10 million bond, while Smith is being denied bond due to the risk of flight.
The case, being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York, is part of an investigation involving the FBI and the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit.
Jeffries’ attorney has stated they will respond in court, not through the media.
This arrest comes ten years after Jeffries’ abrupt resignation from Abercrombie, following controversies throughout his tenure at the company.
