In an exciting development for Nigerian football, celebrated music producers Don Jazzy and D’banj have launched their own football clubs, Supremos FC and Koko FC.
Lagos Liga, Nigeria’s top private football league, made the announcement on Instagram, stirring enthusiasm among fans nationwide.
The new clubs will join the league in December, expanding an already competitive roster of ten teams. Lagos Liga aims to provide a vibrant stage for both emerging talents and seasoned players to shine in competitive play.
The league noted the potential impact of Don Jazzy’s involvement, saying that if his successful touch in other fields carries over to football, rival teams should be ready. D’banj’s entry into football is also creating a buzz, hinting at an exciting new endeavor.
To heighten the competition, organizers have set a substantial N50 million prize for the league champions.
This news comes shortly after Burna Boy’s launch of a football academy for boys aged 4 to 21, with training centers planned for Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.
As Nigerian football continues to grow, the involvement of these influential musicians is expected to draw even more interest to the sport.
