Denzel Washington might visit Wakanda before he wraps up his legendary acting career, and he has several projects lined up to go with it.
During an appearance on an Australian talk show, the two-time Oscar winner confirmed a possible role in Marvel’s “Black Panther 3,” which could be one of his final projects before retiring.
Washington mentioned that director Ryan Coogler, who directed and co-wrote the first two “Black Panther” films, is crafting a special role for him in the potential third installment.
Washington emphasized that at this stage in his career, he is focused on working with top filmmakers. He expressed excitement about collaborating with Ridley Scott on “Gladiator II” and revealed that he doesn’t have many films left in his career.
His future projects include playing Othello again at 70 in a Broadway production with Jake Gyllenhaal, followed by a role as Hannibal, a film with Steve McQueen, and a part in “Black Panther 3” with Coogler. After that, he plans to take on roles like King Lear before retiring.
While Marvel has yet to announce “Black Panther 3” or Coogler’s involvement, Washington’s connection to the franchise goes back to its beginnings.
Chadwick Boseman, the late star of “Black Panther,” shared that Washington had played a crucial role in his journey, even paying for his summer acting classes at Oxford University.
