Jay Leno has injured himself again, this time sporting an eyepatch.
After previously suffering burns from a fire and breaking several bones in car accidents, the 74-year-old comedian now has more injuries to contend with. During an interview outside a comedy club, Leno explained how he ended up with a bruised face and needed the eyepatch.
Leno recounted the incident, explaining that he was at a hotel on a hill when he asked a local about a good place to eat. He was told the restaurant was at the bottom of the hill, but the path down required a long walk. Leno decided to skip the walk around the hill, assuming it wasn’t too steep, but ended up slipping and tumbling 60-70 feet. He hit his head on a rock, injuring his eye. Leno showed his black eye, which was barely open due to the bruising.
Despite the injury, Leno didn’t seek medical attention immediately and went on to perform his comedy show with 2,600 people in the audience. He only visited the hospital after returning to Los Angeles. Leno, however, brushed off the severity of the injury, saying, “It’s not that big a deal” and that he was “holding up fine.”
This latest accident follows a series of mishaps for Leno. In 2022, one of his vintage cars exploded, leaving him with third-degree burns and requiring skin grafts.
In 2023, he also broke several bones, including his collarbone and ribs, after hitting a wire while riding his motorcycle.
