O.J. Simpson’s former bodyguard has made a shocking claim, alleging he possesses a recording of the former football star confessing to the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. In a surprising development, police have reportedly seized multiple thumb drives that could hold this recording.
Simpson, who was famously acquitted in 1995 of the double murder of Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman, remains a central figure in one of the most sensational legal cases in history. According to a search warrant obtained by TMZ, police believe a confiscated thumb drive might contain Simpson’s alleged confession.
The drives were reportedly taken from Simpson’s ex-bodyguard, Iroc Avelli, during a 2022 investigation unrelated to the murder case.
Among the seized items was a green backpack containing live ammunition and other materials.
Bloomington Police in Minnesota, working with LAPD detectives, have pursued court orders to access the drives. However, their contents remain undisclosed.
This new twist comes nearly 30 years after the murders and months after Simpson’s death at age 76 in April 2024, following a battle with prostate cancer. Despite being acquitted in the criminal trial, Simpson was found liable for the deaths in a 1997 civil trial and ordered to pay $33.5 million to the victims’ families.
Simpson, once a celebrated NFL athlete, became infamous as the subject of a high-speed police chase and one of the first celebrity trials televised worldwide. His trial included dramatic moments, such as his failed attempt to wear a glove allegedly used in the murders. Simpson always maintained his innocence, even as his life remained marked by legal troubles and public scrutiny.
The seized thumb drives are now at the center of a legal battle, with Avelli attempting to reclaim them. A judge denied his motion in July 2024, leaving the recordings’ fate and their potential implications unresolved.
