Jake Paul has announced his retirement from influencer boxing to pursue a professional boxing career.
The 27-year-old YouTube star, who gained fame in the influencer boxing world, is now fully focused on his professional boxing journey, according to his promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP).
Paul is eyeing a potential pay-per-view fight against Canelo Álvarez, the reigning IBF, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion.
In an Instagram post, MVP declared that Paul is retired from influencer boxing after going 2-0 with two knockouts, calling him “the best there was, is, and ever will be.” Paul’s professional boxing record stands at 11-1, with seven knockouts.
He began his career by defeating fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib, followed by a knockout of former NBA player Nate Robinson. His last influencer boxing match, a controversial win over 58-year-old Mike Tyson, sparked debates due to Tyson’s physical condition and the 31-year age gap between the fighters.
Paul’s only professional loss came against Tommy Fury, Tyson Fury’s half-brother, in a high-profile match in Saudi Arabia.
As Paul shifts away from influencer boxing, MVP has named AnEsonGib as the new face of the sport, following his recent win against Slim Albaher at Misfits Boxing 19.
