Jay-Z has strongly denied allegations that he assaulted a 13-year-old girl at a post-VMAs party in 2000, alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs.
In a statement, Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, called the accusations a “blackmail attempt” by lawyer Tony Buzbee. He claimed Buzbee assumed the allegations would pressure him into settling, but instead, he vowed to fight back publicly, stating, “I will not give you ONE RED PENNY.”
Jay-Z expressed heartbreak for his family, particularly over the impact on his children, one of whom is old enough to be affected by the media coverage. Without naming his wife, Beyoncé, directly, he lamented having to explain the situation to their children, describing it as a loss of innocence caused by “cruelty and greed.”
Buzbee responded by emphasizing the seriousness of the case, stating that it would be addressed in court.
