Five people have reportedly been charged in connection with the death of Liam Payne in Argentina. Among those charged with negligent homicide is Rogelio “Roger” Nores, a businessman and close friend of the late singer, as well as staff from the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, according to local reports.
Two suspects are currently in custody, as reported by Argentinian news outlet Infobae. Nores, who claims to have left the hotel approximately an hour before Payne’s fatal fall, has been prohibited from leaving the country.
Earlier this month, he allegedly declined to answer questions regarding Payne’s tragic fall but denied accusations of abandoning him beforehand. Nores maintained that Payne was “in good spirits and perfectly balanced” on the day of his death.
Other charges include waiter Braian Paiz, who is accused of providing narcotics to Payne, and hotel employee Ezequiel Pereyra, who also allegedly supplied drugs. Hotel managers Gilda Martín and Esteban Grassi face manslaughter charges. All five individuals have reportedly been summoned to appear in court.
Liam Payne, who was in Argentina to renew his U.S. visa, tragically fell from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel on October 16. Toxicology reports indicated the presence of alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants in his system at the time of his death.
Witnesses described erratic behavior in the hours leading up to the incident, including claims he was carried to his room after smashing his laptop. The autopsy revealed external bleeding and multiple injuries as the cause of death.
Payne’s funeral took place in November in his hometown of Amersham, attended by family, friends, and former One Direction bandmates, who shared heartfelt tributes.
In a joint statement, the group expressed their devastation and reflected on the treasured memories they shared with Payne.
