Snoop Dogg and his wife, Shante Broadus, have shared nearly 30 years of marriage, always supporting each other. It’s no surprise that the rapper would feature his wife in his romantic music, as he did in the 2010 music video for “New Year’s Eve.”
The song, from Snoop’s 11th studio album Doggumentary Music, stars Shante, who looks radiant throughout the black-and-white video.
The video opens with archival footage of the Times Square ball drop before transitioning to scenes of the Broaduses preparing for a night out. Dressed in elegant outfits, Snoop in a white tuxedo coat and Shante in a stunning white dress, the couple steps into a vintage car for a night at a party. They dance, eat cake, and enjoy cocktails with friends at what appears to be Shante’s 2010 birthday celebration.
The theme of the event was inspired by “The Cotton Club,” a renowned Harlem nightclub from the Prohibition Era. Shante’s outfit in the video matches the one she wore at the event, as shared by Mechelle Epps, who was previously married to comedian Mike Epps.
In his lyrics, Snoop raps about his love for “my special lady,” celebrating the romance of New Year’s Eve. The song highlights his deep affection, with lines like “You stay on my mind so I had to make you mine.” Snoop worked with Marty James on the track, which also features James singing the chorus.
Shante has appeared in Snoop’s music before, such as in the 2024 song “My Everything,” which he dedicated to her, calling her “my baby, the love of my life.”
