Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, the American actors and former couple, have reportedly reached a divorce settlement five months after their separation. The couple, who married in 2022, will officially finalize their divorce on February 20. Both will retain what they personally acquired during their short-lived marriage, according to reports.
They have also come to an agreement regarding their $61 million Beverly Hills mansion, though the specifics remain private. The couple married without a prenuptial agreement, with their combined wealth totaling $550 million, of which Lopez holds $400 million in assets.
Lopez and Affleck tied the knot at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, 18 years after their first engagement ended in 2004. They later held a second ceremony at Affleck’s estate in Georgia on August 20 of the same year.
Lopez filed for divorce on the two-year anniversary of their Georgia wedding, listing their separation date as April 26, 2024.
According to reportss, Affleck will retain his stake in Artists Equity, the production company he co-founded with Matt Damon in 2022, which has produced films like Air and The Accountant Part 2. During their marriage, Lopez worked on projects such as Shotgun Wedding, This Is Me… Now, and The Mother.
The settlement, mediated by celebrity divorce expert Laura Wasser, also includes Lopez dropping “Affleck” from her name and returning to Jennifer Lynn Lopez.
In a sign of their amicability, Lopez was seen visiting Affleck’s home a day before the Golden Globes, where she appeared to give Affleck’s son, Samuel, a hug. Lopez’s child, Emme, was also seen leaving with a large gift in hand, followed by Ben.
Despite their divorce, both have expressed their intent to remain involved in each other’s lives.
According to sources, they will continue both continue to communicate when it involves their children and maintain mutual respect.
Affleck and Lopez are also still close with each other’s children, creating a blended family dynamic.
Affleck shares Samuel, along with Violet, 19, and Fin, 15, with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
