Defense attorneys for Sean “Diddy” Combs filed a court document on Tuesday asserting that videos showing sexual activity between Combs, his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, and male prostitutes prove his innocence. They argue the videos demonstrate that the sexual acts were between “consenting adults” and took place within a long-term relationship.
The nine videos, which prosecutors describe as “elaborate and produced sex performances” referred to as “freak offs,” are currently available for the defense team to view, and they are requesting electronic copies from the judge.
The defense contends that the videos contradict the prosecution’s narrative. Attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos wrote that the so-called “Freak Offs” were private, consensual sexual activities, not instances of coercion as the government claims.
In contrast, prosecutors allege that the videos demonstrate Combs coerced, drugged, and kidnapped women for sex, hiring prostitutes in the process.
Ventura, who filed a civil lawsuit against Combs, claimed he regularly abused her, causing physical injuries, and described the “freak offs” as drug-fueled, multi-day sexual performances that she was allegedly coerced into and filmed for Combs’s enjoyment.
The defense strongly disagrees with this account. “These videos clearly show that the individual identified as ‘Victim-1’ not only consented but also appeared to enjoy the activities,” they stated. They emphasized that the case revolves around whether Ventura was a willing participant in her private relationship with Combs, arguing the videos confirm she was.
Combs, who was arrested in September on sex trafficking charges, remains in custody at the federal Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after a judge denied him bail. Federal prosecutors accuse Combs of abusing, threatening, and coercing women since 2008, claiming he ran an “enterprise” involved in sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, and other crimes. Combs has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
