Kanye West shared the story behind the title of his upcoming album, Bully, explaining that he chose the name after discovering his nine-year-old son, Saint, had allegedly kicked another child for being “weak.”
In an appearance on The Download podcast with Justin LaBoy, Kanye recounted the incident: “My son was playing with some kid and then he kicked him. I asked him why, and he said, ‘Cause he’s weak.'” Kanye laughed, adding, “I was like, ‘This man is really a bully right here.'”
LaBoy jokingly responded, “Saint, you’re the reason for bully!” Kanye continued with a laugh, saying, “Don’t Saint do that? Just kick everybody and push him over.” LaBoy quipped that Saint had likely inherited this trait from Kanye himself.
The moment sparked reactions online, with one commenter saying, “Kanye telling us he named his album Bully because Saint kicked a child and said he did it because he’s weak is crazy.”
In addition to Saint, Kanye has three other children with ex-wife Kim Kardashian: North (11), Chicago (7), and Psalm (5).
In 2023, Saint made headlines again when he was scolded by his mother after flipping the bird while stepping out of her vehicle.
On the podcast, Kanye also shared his deep admiration for Japan, explaining that he loves the country’s temples and respectful culture. He mentioned that his wife Bianca Censori believes he was an emperor or king in a past life, further fueling his affection for the country.
As his eldest daughter, North, begins her career in music, Kanye expressed his hope for her to become “the hands down greatest,” just like him. He spoke about his dreams for North to inherit his talent and legacy, saying, “We’re like the Kings in Africa where it’s passed down.”
North recently made a surprise appearance on FKA Twigs’ third studio album, EUSEXUA, where she rapped fluently in Japanese on the track Childlike Things. The track has already made waves, earning North a top 10 spot on a Billboard songs chart.
