Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl 59 halftime show featured an unexpected guest. As he wrapped up his performance with “tv off,” a man dressed in black stormed the stage, waving a Palestinian flag. The protester climbed onto the black lowrider Lamar had used at the start of his set and moved toward the 50-yard line before security tackled him.
It remains unclear whether the individual was part of the performance, as the stage featured numerous dancers in similar attire. The protester was quickly handcuffed and escorted off the field by at least five officers.
Lamar’s halftime show also featured appearances by SZA, Samuel L. Jackson, and Serena Williams.
