Nina World News had earlier reported that Sean Kingston and his mother were arrested for fraud.
A court has found the singer and his mother Janice guilty of federal wire fraud charges.
A jury convicted the “Beautiful Girls” singer and his mother on all counts following a five-day trial, according to court documents.
They were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud.
Turner was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals and will remain at the Miami Federal Detention Center until sentencing. Meanwhile, Kingston—whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson—will be placed on home detention with electronic monitoring after posting a $200,000 cash bond. Both are scheduled for sentencing on July 11, with each charge carrying a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
The indictment alleges that between April 2023 and March 2024, Kingston and Turner fraudulently obtained money and goods by misrepresenting financial transactions. Prosecutors claim Kingston used his celebrity status to persuade businesses to deliver luxury items, such as high-end watches, a $160,000 car, and $40,000 worth of audio equipment, without upfront payment. Fake wire transfers were allegedly used to deceive vendors into providing the goods.
In addition to their federal convictions, Kingston and Turner still face state charges in Florida, including grand theft and identity fraud. Authorities accuse them of running an ongoing scheme from October 2023 through March 2024 to obtain property and services under false pretenses.
Their state trial date has not yet been set.
