Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, often referred to as Saudi Arabia’s ‘Sleeping Prince,’ marked his 36th birthday on April 18, 2025, while still in a coma that has lasted nearly 20 years.
He has remained in this state since suffering a traumatic brain injury from a car accident in London in 2005, during his time at military college. Since then, he has been under continuous care at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh. According to Roya News, his condition has seen little change over the years. He remains on life support, dependent on a ventilator and feeding tube.
The last reported signs of responsiveness were in 2019, when he made slight movements like lifting a finger or subtly turning his head—small gestures that offered hope but did not suggest a return to full consciousness.
