U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett has responded after President Donald Trump referred to her as a “low IQ person” during a Sunday interview on NBC News’ Meet the Press.
In his appearance, Trump criticized the Democratic Party and singled out Crockett, a Texas Democrat known for her criticism of the administration. “They have a new person named Crockett. I watched her speak the other day. She’s definitely a low IQ person,” Trump said.
Crockett took to X to respond to Trump’s comment, calling it both immature and inaccurate. “Imagine being busy getting another honorary doctorate & delivering the commencement address to encourage & empower the leaders of ‘Today,’ and right before boarding your flight to depart, learning that diabolical delusional demented dumb Don was busy trying to challenge your IQ, again,” Crockett posted.
Crockett has been outspoken against the administration’s policies, especially its dismantling of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, as well as its efforts through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, she called Musk “the idiot known as Elon Musk.”
Crockett has also criticized Republican figures, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott, whom she referred to as “Governor Hot Wheels” in March. She later clarified that she was referring to Abbott’s harsh immigration policies, not his disability. “I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition — I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” Crockett explained.
In 2024, Crockett had a public clash with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene during a House Oversight Committee meeting after Greene made a comment about Crockett’s appearance, suggesting her “fake eyelashes” were interfering with her ability to read. Crockett hit back, commenting on Greene’s appearance with a reference to her “bleach-blonde, bad-built, butch body.”
Crockett has represented Texas’s 30th Congressional District since January 2023.
