Kim Kardashian told a French court that she feared for her life during a 2016 armed robbery in Paris, believing she would be “shot dead” as masked men stormed her apartment, tied her up, and stole $9 million in jewelry.
Testifying at the trial of 10 suspects—mostly elderly men dubbed the “grandpa robbers” by the media—Kardashian recounted the traumatic ordeal during Paris Fashion Week, describing her terror and thoughts that she might be raped or killed. She was restrained while only wearing a bathrobe and begged the intruders for her life, saying she had children to return to.
She emotionally recalled thinking her sister Kourtney would walk in and find her lifeless.
The suspects allegedly posed as police and forced the concierge to act as a translator. Kardashian shared how the robbery permanently changed her life and that of her family, leading to heightened security and emotional recovery. One defendant, Aomar Ait Khedache, expressed remorse through a letter, which moved Kardashian to tears. She responded by offering forgiveness but emphasized that the trauma still lingers.
The robbery, one of France’s most high-profile celebrity crimes, led to a massive investigation involving DNA and surveillance footage. Kardashian’s public sharing of her location and jewelry on social media is believed to have helped the robbers track her.
The trial, which began in April 2025, includes multiple suspects facing charges ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping.
