The China General Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria has refuted allegations of discrimination against Nigerians at the Chinese supermarket located on the premises of the Royal Choice Estate, Airport Road, Abuja.
In a statement, Cui Guangzheng, the Secretary of the China Chamber of Commerce in Abuja, stressed the organization’s commitment to fairness and inclusivity.
Addressing a viral video shared by an unidentified FCT resident alleging that a Nigerian was denied entry to the supermarket due to a policy against Nigerians, Guangzheng clarified that the supermarket operates within a residential area of the estate and there is no discriminatory policy in place.
Guangzheng expressed regret over an incident involving a customer and security staff, emphasizing that the behavior of the security staff does not represent the estate management or the chamber of commerce’s stance.
He reiterated that the chamber of commerce is dedicated to fostering friendship between citizens of both countries and supporting economic development.
Following the incident, officials from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission found the supermarket closed during their visit.
