New reports have emerged after the shooting of a security guard outside Drake’s expansive Toronto mansion, regarding efforts to enhance security at the residence and the management of the security firm tasked with safeguarding the rapper.
Reports reveal that the security firm overseeing Drake’s Toronto estate was established four months subsequent to a representative of the rap star expressing concerns and the necessity for enhanced security around his home.
In September 2019, the city granted Drake permission to install extra tall fences around his property in the upscale Bridle Path neighborhood after being informed that despite numerous calls to the police, security was largely left up to him.
The recent shooting incident outside Drake’s mansion, leaving a security guard severely injured, has drawn attention to the global superstar’s home security arrangements. The identity of the injured guard remains undisclosed, and Drake has not publicly addressed the incident.
Clues about the security firm managing Drake’s protection were gleaned from a vehicle parked at the scene—a white Nissan Rogue bearing the name Jungle Lion Security, which is reportedly stationed near the property’s front gates around the clock.
According to reports, Jungle Lion Security was incorporated on January 30, 2020.
About four months before the formation of the security company, during a public meeting with city councillors, a representative from an architecture firm engaged in work on Drake’s property emphasized the rapper’s need for round-the-clock security.
This meeting led to Drake receiving an exemption from the City of Toronto to erect taller-than-standard fences around his newly constructed mansion.
Brad Rafauli, vice-president of Ferris Rafauli Architectural Design Build Group, articulated concerns about uninvited visitors to the property, indicating that security was largely the responsibility of Drake due to perceived inadequacies in police response.
There have been no confirmations regarding whether the injured security guard was employed by Jungle Lion Security.
Additionally, Ontario Transportation Ministry records link the license plate of the Jungle Lion Security vehicle to Drake himself, under his birth name Aubrey D. Graham.
Nessel Beezer, known as Chubbs to Drake’s fans and reportedly the rap star’s head of security, is associated with Jungle Lion Security.
Provincial records show Beezer’s involvement in various business ventures under the Jungle Lion name, including the now-closed Drake-affiliated sports bar Pick 6ix.
Toronto police continue to investigate the shooting incident at Drake’s residence, and details regarding the motive remain unclear.
