Anthony Joshua is close to finalizing his next opponent for an upcoming fight.
Joshua, who knocked out former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in his first bout of 2024, mentioned that negotiations for his next match are nearly complete and expressed his motivation.
There is speculation that Joshua might face fellow Briton Daniel Dubois, who recently won the IBF interim title by defeating Filip Hrgovic.
However, the IBF has confirmed that it hasn’t received any request to authorize a Joshua vs. Dubois fight for the IBF world heavyweight title.
Oleksandr Usyk, holding all four major heavyweight world titles, is another contender after his victory over Tyson Fury.
Zhilei Zhang, who beat Deontay Wilder on the same night Dubois defeated Hrgovic, is also interested in fighting Joshua but has not been contacted yet.
Joseph Parker, a former WBO champion who lost his title to Joshua in 2018, is another potential opponent.
Parker has been in excellent form, recently defeating Wilder and Zhang. He believes he deserves a rematch with Joshua, citing his recent success and improvements in his training regimen.
Parker emphasized that many fighters want to face Joshua and expressed readiness for any opportunity.
Parker also commented on the likelihood of Usyk and Fury fighting in December, which could lead to titles becoming vacant. He hopes to be in contention for a world championship if that happens, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of boxing negotiations.
Parker remains prepared for any opponent that comes his way.
