Four people have died, and 120 others were injured in a recent earthquake in northeastern Iran on Tuesday, officials confirmed.
Iran’s state TV reported that the magnitude 5.0 quake struck the town of Kashmar, approximately 800 km (500 miles) east of the capital, Tehran.
Rescue teams have been sent to the affected area, and three temporary camps have been set up, according to Red Crescent officials.
Iran, located on major seismic faults, experiences an earthquake almost daily.
In 2003, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake devastated the historic city of Bam, causing 26,000 deaths.
More recently, a magnitude 7 earthquake in western Iran in 2017 killed over 600 people and injured more than 9,000.
The recent quake also affected neighboring countries Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
